This past week, I invited my social media community to sit with a playful but powerful scenario:
Imagine the universe grants you a superpower—one you’re genuinely excited to use.
The catch?
You only get it for 24 hours. 🦸🏾♀️
The questions were simple, yet revealing:
• What superpower would you choose?
• How would you use it?
• Would it serve you, others, or both?
• And what might you learn about yourself—or the world—by having this power, even briefly?
Finally I challenged my followers to also think about a superpower that would NOT want to have.
As I took some time to reflect myself, here’s what surfaced.
My Superpower: Flight ✈️
If I could choose, my superpower would be the gift of flight.
I’d use it first to fly my family to Colombia so my granddaughter could meet her paternal grandparents for the very first time. Then, I’d take myself somewhere tropical—an island paradise where I could fully disconnect, decompress, and step away from anything remotely digital.
I imagine myself eating fresh fish, fruits, and vegetables, watching dolphins play in the distance, and simply being. Present. Quiet. Alone with my thoughts and my peace.
This superpower would benefit both my family and me.
For them, it would create connection, shared experiences, and opportunities to grow together.
For me, it would offer peace of mind—knowing they’re safe, loved, and surrounded by extended family.
It would also give me something I often crave but don’t always allow myself: true rest. Real downtime. The kind of restoration that doesn’t come from pushing through, but from slowing down.
And honestly? It shouldn’t take a superpower to prioritize self-care—but for a forever go-getter like me, some days it feels like that’s exactly what I’d need. 🤦🏾♀️
What Would I Learn?
I think I’d gain humility. Seeing the world from a vantage point few ever experience would remind me just how small I am in the vast, salty sea of life—and how interconnected we all truly are.
I’d also be reminded that making a difference doesn’t always mean doing something big. Sometimes it’s simply bringing people together, easing a journey, or helping someone reach a dream without the weight of stress or anxiety.
One Superpower I Wouldn’t Want: Telepathy
That one’s easy—telepathy is a hard no for me.
I have no desire to know what’s going on in your head. As tempting as it might be, some thoughts aren’t meant to be overheard. A single fleeting or unfiltered thought could be misunderstood, misinterpreted, and leave lasting consequences for a relationship.
I’d much rather trust that when someone is ready to share what’s on their mind, they’ll do so in their own time and in their own way.
So now I’ll ask you again…
If you had a superpower for just 24 hours, what would you choose—and what might it reveal about what you truly need right now?
