So I’m about to make a very bold statement that I’m sure some hiring managers of the toxic nature would disagree with, but I’m standing on business and I am going to make it anyway because it is both valid and true.
I have never quit a job, I’ll say it again, I have never quit a job. I have, however, denied access to my skills, my education, and my knowledge to various employers who did not see the value in these things or who could not help enrich and sustain them for me.
Each and every resignation or reclaiming of my time and energy was directly related to the sum total of disinvesting that mutually agreed upon professional relationship. When there was no longer a value add for either party, a decision was made to remove and redirect those energies elsewhere where they were both welcomed and needed.
I still had the ability to do the tasks of the job, just not the desire to do the job if said employers were unable or unwilling to support and value what I brought to them.
Professional Actions of Reclaiming
To Quit: is to stop or discontinue an action.
To Resignation: to stop or discontinue a role you had with in an organization.
To Deny Access: is to stop sharing your combined knowledge, education, and skill sets; coupled with the discontinuation of your role with in the organization.
When you deny access, you take with you all that you brought but you also take with you all that you’ve learned from that organization. The ROI for them is less valuable than it is for you! By denying access, you gain and you retain, the yield is a high ROI and you get to decide where you take your skills and energy next.
If you are thinking about quitting or resigning a position, lets talk first and lets develop a plan that reframes you mindset into one that ensures you come out on time and with greater control of who and what access your time and what utilizes your energy.
