One artist plays with technical perfection, while the other seems to physically, emotionally, and spiritually blend with their instrument so seamlessly that the music doesn’t just reach your ears,  it also reaches your soul.

The melodies stir something deeper. They create such an emotional connection that you can do nothing but surrender to the feeling to the point of tears.

So the question becomes: why does one musician’s style reach your soul while the other musician’s style only reaches your ears?

Practice vs. Passion

I’ll tell you why.

While both musicians may possess the ability to play the same instrument, the first artist, though talented, has focused only on mastering the mechanics of playing. In contrast, the second artist focused not only on the mechanics of the instrument, but also took the time to understand the deeper roots of the music itself.

They didn’t just learn to play with precision — they learned to play with purpose.

They took a deeper dive into what makes them a masterful artist.

Simply put, it’s the difference between having practiced a skill and having a passion for a skill.

Artist Two chose to put in the deeper work required to reach the highest levels of their talent. They tapped into the wholeness of their creativity and attached themselves so fully to their music that separating the artist from the instrument becomes nearly impossible.

They become one, master and mechanic, structure and expression, a single unit that produces not only melody, but connection.

While both artists ensure that you hear the music, however, Artist Two  ensures that you feel the music.

Putting in the Work
