Planning for the Future: Getting into Alignment with Your 2027 Career Growth
“In any given moment, we have two options: to step forward into growth or step back into safety.” — Abraham Maslow
One thing I have come to know and better understand about myself, and my own career journey is that nothing I have accomplished has come from remaining in a place of safety. Finding the courage to take thoughtful risks has been at the heart of both my professional and personal growth. An important part of that growth begins with self-reflection and in conducting an honest self-assessment.
Taking time to ask yourself questions that challenge your beliefs and perceptions at various points along your professional journey is essential. This practice can reveal how confident you feel about your current direction, where your forward momentum may have stalled, and which support systems can help propel your career growth even further.
As we continue the work of becoming, I would like to offer you a tool to help you in assessing your career growth.Whether you are considering a new role, starting a business, or exploring an entirely new career direction, my newly created Career Growth Self-Assessment tool covers five key areas of deep reflection:
- Clarity and Direction (Where are you going and what are your priorities)
- Confidence and Leadership (Are you communicating boundaries, making decisions)
- Actions and Momentum (Are you taking action and setting realistic goals)
- Wellbeing and Sustainability (Are you creating balance and developing healthy habits)
- Support and Investment (Are you supported and ready to follow through)
I invite you to use this tool this month to help set the tone for the next steps. You plan to take within your career. Additionally, at the conclusion of your assessment you will find a series of reflection prompts designed to help you focuson the areas you find most challenging, where you may start to recognize emerging patterns, and that will help you identify the guidance, accountability, or resources you may need as you continue to grow and thrive in 2027.

Reflection, Retreat, Harvest, and Family — A Coach’s Moment of Self-Reflection

As the seasons change and autumn settles in, we are invited to pause and reflect on the journey behind us. Reflection sometimes requires retreat to a safe, comfortable space where we can appreciate the harvest our lives have produced. For me, that place is found in the comfort of family. Throughout this year, I have made intentional choices to create more time for the people I love. Stepping away from certain responsibilities and obligations has become an important part of my own becoming. It has shown me that I can continue pursuing my dreams while releasing commitments that draw too much time and energy away from what matters most.
This has been one of my most important lessons of the year: I can remain ambitious without exhausting myself or giving away an endless amount of time and energy. My self-reflection has focused on releasing what no longer supports my growth, including limiting beliefs about what success should look like. As I mature, I am learning to define success in a way that honors both my ambitions and my wellbeing. I value my energy more deeply now, and what I want has shifted toward a life that feels less chaotic, more intentional, and more centered on meaningful time with my family and close friends.
When my granddaughter was born two years ago, I knew some aspects of my life needed to change and I welcomed that change. Her arrival encouraged me to create new ways of working without giving all of my time and energy to my career and business and quite frankly I have not looked back. I remain committed to my ambitions, but I am also becoming more intentional about creating meaningful moments with the people I love. What that means is that I am learning to live as a multidimensional person, who’s working daily to bring greater harmony, peace, and joy back into every area of my life, and that, for this coach, is my most valuable harvest.
What have you learned about your own life this year? Have you created time and space for meaningful self-reflection? Where do you find a sense of retreat, renewal, and safety? As you continue the work of becoming, pause to recognize and appreciate the harvest of your personal growth.
Harnessing My Rage at “Her Story”

For the second time this year I, alongside 15 brave women took a moment to raise our voices, and share our stories. It is such a powerful and beautiful thing when divine feminine energy is coordinated and collective.
Local poet and author, Theresa E. Radley has created a stage and a place where women feel safe to share their stories and find the courage to let their voices be heard. If you would like to learn more about Theresa or the ” Her Story” movement click here.
